PHILADELPHIA, June 30 - Duane Morris LLP Chairman Sheldon M. Bonovitz has been named to the Barnes Foundation Board of Trustees, after his nomination by Lincoln University, the nation's first historically black university.

Sheldon is a prominent figure in the art world as well as in the Philadelphia business community. He serves on the board of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Library Foundation, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Curtis Institute's School of Music. He is also a trustee of the Dolfinger McMahon Foundation and of The Lindback Foundation, which concentrate their philanthropy in the greater Philadelphia region. Sheldon is on the Board of Directors of Comcast Corporation and the Board of Directors of eResearch Technology.

Sheldon and his wife, Jill, are major collectors of art created by self-taught 20th century American artists and have one of the outstanding collections of this work in the United States. Jill is a nationally recognized artist whose work is in major museums, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

Ivory V. Nelson, president of Lincoln University, called Sheldon a great addition to the board. "We're delighted to have a person of Mr. Bonovitz's stature to serve on the board of this important institution," said Dr. Nelson. "His background and experience in both the business and artistic communities will provide a value-added experience for the board's future plans."

The Barnes Foundation, created in 1922 by inventor and entrepreneur Dr. Alfred C. Barnes, promotes the advancement of education and appreciation of the fine arts. The collection, purchased by Barnes using his personal fortune, constitutes the greatest collection of Impressionist and Post Impressionist artists in the world, outside of the collection in the Musee D'Orsay, Paris.
