Duane Morris Named Top Performing Law Firm in Complex Transactions

CHICAGO, November 9, 2007 - Duane Morris Chicago-based partner Michael Silverman was recently cited in The BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Corporate Transactions for "delivering truly superior client service in corporate M&A work."

The All-Star report is based on interviews with more than 180 corporate counsel at large and Fortune 1000 companies. These key M&A decision makers were asked, in an unprompted manner, to identify individual attorneys who "stand out as delivering the absolute best client service." Michael is part of an exclusive group of 86 attorneys from 63 of the top law firms in the country who were singled out by name for this distinction.

According to The BTI Consulting Group, Inc.'s independent research, Duane Morris is "one of the top performing law firms in complex transactions-the single most difficult quality to find in today's law firms." Of the more than 500 law firms serving the Fortune 1000, Duane Morris is one of the top 50 firms "outperforming competitors in the advanced M&A arena." This is not the first time that BTI reported on Duane Morris' strength in the legal marketplace. Previous BTI reports called Duane Morris a "major player" in terms of client focus, growth strategy, technology, flexible billing and value, and cited it as one of only 10 "market moving law firms"-firms perceived to influence the future of the legal market.

Michael is General Counsel of Duane Morris and chair of the firm's Information Technologies and Telecom Practice Group. He represents clients in computer, e-commerce and technology law transactions, systems development disputes, commercial disputes and shareholder disputes. Michael has counseled clients (vendors and users) on negotiating and drafting systems development contracts and outsourcing agreements, domestic and international software license agreements, Web hosting and development agreements, and telecommunications service agreements. In addition, he has litigated a number of large-scale information technology and e-commerce system failure disputes, as well as complex financial fraud, shareholder trade secret, non-competition and commercial disputes in state and federal courts and before arbitrators.

Michael also counsels clients regarding numerous areas of e-commerce and Internet law, including structuring relationships, processes and contracts for e-commerce endeavors (such as joint ventures, channel partner, ASP and co-marketing arrangements) and for delivering products and services to consumers and businesses over the Internet. He assists clients in managing IT and Internet law issues in M&A transactions and counsels clients on privacy and security issues relating to Internet and network-based activities.
