The trial lawyers in our Pittsburgh office handle a variety of corporate and commercial litigation matters, including antitrust, securities, intellectual property, derivative action, creditors' rights, class action, products liability and employment litigation, contract and Uniform Commercial Code cases, as well as First Amendment and media law issues. Our Pittsburgh-based lawyers also have an active construction law practice, representing owners, developers, contractors and subcontractors, and design professionals. The construction law practitioners are experienced in contract drafting and negotiation, as well as project counseling.

We also handle other commercial and technology-related litigation matters, as well as technology and Internet corporate counseling as a litigation-avoidance tool. Our areas of focus include e-commerce, information technology contracts, privacy, and web and workplace technology planning and policy.

In addition to labor and employment matters, our lawyers also have experience litigating other types of complex business disputes, including accountant malpractice actions, breach of contract claims, cases involving alleged violations of federal and state securities laws, enforcement of restrictive covenants arising out of employment relationships and insurance coverage disputes.

Appellate

Duane Morris' appellate lawyers handle appeals at all levels of the federal and state court systems in nearly all areas of substantive law and legal procedure, from writ proceedings involving a single pretrial motion to appeals involving some of the largest and most complex civil jury trials in the nation. We work with clients and trial counsel to prepare post-trial motions, to plan and prepare for possible appeals, and to evaluate the merits and likely outcomes of appeals. Duane Morris also frequently appears as amicus curiae on behalf of individual clients or industry groups, providing an opportunity for clients to be heard in cases involving issues that affect their interests. Our appellate attorneys have handled hundreds of appeals and writ proceedings, including cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in liability. With both a "core" group of appellate attorneys and a broader group of attorneys with appellate experience in specific substantive areas, such as intellectual property, antitrust, bankruptcy, employment, and administrative law, Duane Morris provides a full range of experienced appellate representation to meet our clients' diverse needs.
