PHILADELPHIA, February 9, 2018—Duane Morris LLP announced today that James H. Steigerwald will become co-head of the firm’s 250-lawyer Commercial, Securities and Antitrust Litigation (CSAL) division, and Dana J. Ash will become head of the 70-attorney Products Liability and Toxic Torts practice division. Both Steigerwald and Ash are partners in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Steigerwald will direct the Duane Morris CSAL division with partner Rebecca Lamberth in Atlanta, who has served as co-leader of the group since 2016. He replaces partner Wayne A. Mack in Philadelphia, who became co-chair of the Trial Practice Group on January 1, 2018. Ash replaces partner Sharon L. Caffrey in Philadelphia, who also became co-chair of the Trial Practice Group on January 1, 2018.

James H. Steigerwald is an active trial lawyer who has tried cases before federal and state courts across the country, obtaining multimillion-dollar verdicts as well as defense verdicts. He has significant experience with high-profile, nine-figure damages cases involving contract, fraud and fiduciary duty claims, as well as actions alleging violations of the securities, antitrust and RICO laws. Steigerwald is active in the community and has been recognized by the Support Center for Child Advocacy with its prestigious Distinguished Advocate Award for his pro bono representation of abused and neglected children.

Steigerwald is a 1998 cum laude graduate of Cornell Law School, where he received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award for Trial Advocacy. He is a 1993 cum laude graduate of Harvard College.

Dana J. Ash practices in the areas of products liability and business litigation, and has conducted trials in state and federal courts across the United States. In addition to extensive court trials, he has handled numerous mediations and litigated arbitration claims under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association and the International Chamber of Commerce. Ash represents medical device manufacturers nationally in products liability matters, and in commercial disputes with suppliers and customers. He has served as lead trial counsel for clients in consolidated products liability claims involving medical devices and biologics, including human tissue products, in both federal and state court venues, including multidistrict litigation. Ash employs his medicolegal experience defending physicians, hospitals and health maintenance organizations in medical malpractice and other licensing claims. He also handles matters involving complex commercial contracts, shareholder disputes, landlord and tenant lease disputes, intellectual property disputes (including trademark and trade secret claims) and other business-related disputes. Ash handles a wide range of employment matters involving noncompete and confidentiality agreements.

Ash is a 1997 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a 1994 graduate of Dartmouth College, cum laude.
